Pickleball Court Cost Variables: Materials, Installation, Site Prep

If you’ve decided to move forward with installation of a new pickleball court at your residence or a commercial facility, naturally one of the key subjects you’ll be thinking about is cost. There are several important factors that will help determine the eventual cost of your pickleball court design and installation, and knowing these will help you set and stick to a budget.

At Courts Unlimited, we’re happy to offer a wide range of residential and commercial pickleball court design and installation services, and we’ll run through the entire range of pricing variables and options with you at your convenience. In this two-part blog series, we’ll discuss some of the most common elements that tend to impact pickleball court pricing, plus how you should be thinking about each of them.

Materials Used

As you may have guessed, the single largest variable impacting the price of your pickleball court installation is likely to be the materials that you choose. While there are many different materials available, it’s important to bear in mind that some cost more than others and that each type has both advantages and potential drawbacks.

For instance, if you’re looking for a low-maintenance solution, you may want to opt for a surface such as asphalt, which is relatively quick and easy to install and requires minimal upkeep. However, if you’re looking for an attractive and durable solution, you will likely have to pay more for materials like concrete or composite surfaces.

Installation Timelines

Another important variable impacting pickleball court pricing is the installation timeline. If you’re in a rush to get your court ready for play, then you may have to pay more for expedited installation services. Similarly, if the weather isn’t cooperating or there are any other delays in the process, then these will also add to the cost of installation.

On the other hand, if you have a flexible timeline and can wait for the perfect weather conditions, then you may be able to save some money by opting for a slower installation process.

Site Preparation

It’s important to bear in mind that site preparation is another important factor when it comes to pickleball court pricing. Site preparation may include things like leveling the ground, removing debris, and making sure that the surface is free of any major impediments. The amount of site preparation required will depend on the existing conditions at your facility, but it’s important to set aside a budget for this regardless.

In some cases, you may even need to have underground utilities moved in order to make way for your pickleball court – and naturally, this will increase your costs.

In part two of our series, we’ll discuss additional pricing variables, such as permits and additional features. For more here, or to learn about any of our pickleball courts, tennis courts or basketball courts, speak to our team at Courts Unlimited today.
